YOUTH WILL BE SERVED, IN STYLE.

HI!

My name is Isobel (on the right), and this is my twin sister Sadie (on the left). I’m the founder of Cargo Los Angeles. While New York City is the place of our birth, we’ve called LA our home since we were four years old. On a recent visit back home to New York, I got to spend some time with my cousin Lindsey (the Binz). Lindsey showed me some of the graphics and graffiti she’d been working on and I was immediately obsessed and inspired. I decided right then and there that I wanted to design some shirts myself. Afterward, my dad took my twin sister Sadie and I out to dinner to Blue Ribbon on Sullivan Street, and on the walk over he was telling us all of the things we should order when we arrived. One of the dishes he recommended was escargot which we had never tried before. My parents always suggest that we try new things, so I agreed. I kept repeating the word “escargot,” and decided that I liked the sound of the “cargot” part of the word and that should be my brand name, but drop the t as people would for sure pronounce it wrong. So, you could say that in a way, snails inspired the name of my brand. I did not like the escargot by the way.

From the moment we sat down to dinner, I began drawing on the paper table cloth and experimenting with different lettering styles. For the rest of our time in NY, all I could think (and talk) about was Cargo. My parents told me they would help me get some shirts and stickers made, and here we are. My sister Sadie is also designing shirts with me, and learning about marketing so she can help get the word out (thanks Sadie!). She’s wearing her first design in this photo.

For now, we are just working on t shirt designs, but hope to make some hats and hoodies soon. We hope to see you out in the wild wearing our gear! Check back often as we will have more drops soon.

Thank you for your support,
Isobel & Sadie!
